About Program

General  Information

The program has been developed by the Ministry of Culture, Monument Protection and Sports of Georgia. It is financially supported within the funds earmarked under the Law of Georgia On State Budget. The program serves to the interests of the national policy for literature, books and libraries, development of literary process in the country, stimulation of Georgian writing, promotion of books and literature, support of libraries.


Program Aims and Goals

Georgian arts and culture has made a significant contribution to the history of world culture. One of the clear examples of it is the long track record of the Georgian book and translation school. Aim of the Program in support of the Georgian Literature in foreign translation is to facilitate the Georgian Literature and Book promotion both domestically and overseas.

Major goals of the Program in Support of the Georgian Book and Literature are as follows:

  • Facilitation of  book fairs;
  • Implement the Translation Project;
  • Development of Libraries;
  • Encouragement of unsolicited initiatives.


Major tasks of the Program in Support of Georgian Book and Literature are as follows:

  • Organize various competitions;
  • Distribution of public funds through open competitive mechanisms;
  • Facilitate the integration of the Georgian Literature in the international arts and culture.

 

Program Priorities

With the decision of the Ministry of Culture, Monument Protection and Sports of Georgia in 2010 the following trends are regarded as national priorities of the program:

  • Facilitate the publication of The Literary Newspaper;
  • Support the XII International Tbilisi Book Festival;
  • Introduce the voucher funding system of Public Libraries;
  • Encourage the unsolicited project proposals.
